Jack Taylor

Jack Taylor is the founder of America’s most popular car rental service, Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The company operates a fleet of 1.5 million cars under Enterprise Holdings. The American businessman started the company in 1957 and named the company after a WWII aircraft carrier. Forbes listed Jack and his family on their list of billionaires as 92nd.

Taylor’s success came early in his career after he focused his business model on the hometown market, leading to the company’s slogan of, “We’ll Pick You Up.” The fleet continued to grow each year and by 1995, Enterprise had reached more than $2 billion in revenue.  In 2007, they bought out two of their competitors, Alamo and National Rent-A-Car. In 1994, Jack stepped down as CEO and passed on the duties to his son, Alan, but he still sits on the board of advisers as a consultant.

Jack Taylor is also a well-known philanthropist, giving large donations to the Missouri Botanical Garden, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and several other causes.
