The Chinese born mall magnate, Henry Sy, is the Philippine’s richest man. Also known as the retail king of the Philippines, Sy’s wide range of business interests and industries include retailing, banking, real estate, mining, health care, and much more.
Sy got in to the retail business after he opened a small store in Quiapo, Manila in 1958, which later became SM Quiapo. His success mainly stems from the establishment of his supermalls and SM Prime Holdings. He also has interests in Banco de Oro Universal Bank.
He is currently in the process of developing offices, hotels, and apartments around his shopping malls in order to maximize the value of the property holdings.
