Chinese-Indonesian billionaire Robert Budi Hartono is tobacco billionaire with a 2015 net worth of $9.1 billion. Hartono is a tobacco tycoon and owns the clove cigarette manufacturing company, Djarum. Djarum is a private company and the world’s third biggest producer of clove cigarettes. Hartono has earned a large portion of his wealth through his dealings with Bank Central Asia. Bank Central Asia is one of Indonesia’s largest private banks formerly controlled by billionaire Liem Sioe Liong. He and his brother Michael hold significant stock in the bank. In a November 2012 listing, Budi Hartono and his brother Michael Hartono were reported by Forbes Magazine as the richest men in Indonesia in 2012 with a combined wealth of $15 billion. The brothers inherited Djarum from their father. At that time, Djarum’s factory burned down and suffered an unstable condition. But in the hands of the two Hartono brothers, Djarum grew into the giant it is today.
