Brazilian Marcel Herrmann Telles is a business tycoon who made his fortune through his shrewd professional ventures. His fortune is estimated at $13.2 billion. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Brazil at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and went on to get a degree in business from Harvard University. in the beginning of his career, from 1974 to 1998, he was a partner in Garantia Merchant Bank (prior to its merger with Credit Suisse First Boston). He’s been a Board Member of Burger King and Lojas Americanas and Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest beer company. He also had his hand in the equity business; he served as a partner for GP Investimentos, which he held until 2004.
When Telles is not diving off the coast of Monaco, he’s working on his investments in a variety of industries such as finance, retail, food, and beverage. He helped grow the equity of the AB InBev by a whopping $1 billion. He’s often worked with fellow billionaires Jorge Paulo Lemann and Carlos Alberto Sicupiara. The three of them control an investment firm called 3G Capital. Their investment firm 3G Capital bought Hamburger chain Burger King in 2010.
