Francois Pinault is the self-made French billionaire in charge of one of the world’s largest luxury retail companies, Kering. Pinault and his family’s holdings include high-end brands such as Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and much more. His holding company Artemis S.A. also overlooks recognizable brands such as Converse shoes, Samsonite luggage, and Christie’s auction house. Not even having finished high school, Francois Pinault is now the fifth richest man in France as of 2015.
Pinault is also an avid art collector, with a collection of over 2000 pieces including the likes of Mondrian and Picasso. Most notably, he has an array of work by Damien Hirst, and is the owner of world’s largest collection of contemporary pieces.
Pinault’s son, Francois-Henri, manages Kering and is an essential part of the family’s success. Francois-Henri is also the chairman of Group Artemis – the family’s holding group for insurance, art, and wine.
