Donald Bren

Donald Bren is a Los Angeles native that found success through long-term real estate investments and developments over the last 50 years. He heads one of the most recognizable conglomerates of the real estate industry in Southern California, the Irvine Company. He is ranked 64th on the Forbes list of billionaires.

Bren founded the Mission Viejo Company in 1963 and ventured to be the primary home developer in the Mission Viejo community. In 1977, Bren purchased a primary stake in the Irvine Company and eventually bought out all of the shares over the span of the next two decades. Today, Donald Bren and the Irvine Company have made their mark on California real estate, with a portfolio that includes 41 retail centers, 500 office buildings, 130 apartment communities, and much more.

Bren is often referred to as one of the most powerful people in California. As a philanthropist, he has used his wealth towards many different causes including education, land preservation and conservation, and technology research. It is estimated that he has given more than $1.3 billion so far, and continues to give more.

Today, he is still living in Southern California, and resides in Newport Beach with his third wife.
