Standing as one of Russia’s richest men, Andrey Melnichenko made a vast majority of his wealth by being cofounder of one of Russia’s largest private banks, MDM Financial Group, which he later became the sole shareholder for. The self-made billionaire is ranked 137th billionaire in the world and 12th in Russia by Forbes, with an estimated net worth of $9.6 billion. Melnichenko’s other business ventures branch out to pipe exportation, fertilizer production, and coal production. He cofounded OAO TMK, a Russian steel pipe manufacturer that has become the largest producer and exporter of pipes in Russia.
Melnichenko made his fortune early on and was often listed as one of the elite billionaires under 40 for a bit of time. He owns several homes internationally, including a $12.2 million penthouse in New York City’s Central Park and a $40 million estate in the UK. He can also be found on the decks of his 140-meter yacht “A,” named after his wife, Aleksandra.
