Born of Sri Lankan decent, Ananda Krishan is a successful entrepreneur and business tycoon that made a majority of his fortune in the Southeast Asian market. He was named as the sixth wealthiest man in Asia and the second richest man in Malaysia.
Krishan holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from Harvard. His empire began with oil trading ventures and followed with interests in gaming, satellite technology, and telecommunications. His most successful business venture is Maxis Communication – the principal cell phone provider of Malaysia.
Krishan tries to stay out of the public eye as much as possible. He is best known for his help in providing financing for the Live Aid benefit concert that was held in 1985, which reportedly raised over £150 million towards the continuous famine in Ethiopia. In recent news, Krishan is using his company, Astro, to create new television channels and target audiences in India.
